MArch 11, 2024
Good Morning Gardiner Hawks! These are your announcements for Monday, March 11th
On Friday, teachers prepared Progress Reports for the first six weeks of Semester 2. Soon you’ll have a chance to see how you’re doing when you log into StudentVUE.
This week kicks off the second grading period of Semester. Students will start to learn about health topics in Science classes.
One great resource to help students learn about health topics is KnowYourNeuro. It’s a website made available to us through a partnership with OCTogether. Right now until the middle of April, there’s a contest between us and Tumwata to see who can have the most parents visit the website! Let’s do this, Gardiner Hawks!
Please stand if you’d like to participate in the Pledge of Allegiance. If you choose not to participate, please remain respectfully silent.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty andjustice for all.
You may be seated.
We also take time today to read our land acknowledgement. This is in front of our school near the office. Come by and take a look!
We acknowledge the land on which we sit and occupy today as the traditional home of the tribal nations, Clackamas, Watlala also known as Cascades, Clowwewalla also known as Willamette Tumwaters, and Northern Molalla. All of whom were relocated after signing the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 to the Grand Ronde Reservation and today their descendants are members of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. With gratitude, we look forward to the generations for whom this will be a place of learning.
Please remember that backpacks need to stay in the neighborhoods at all times. Each neighborhood is designed with cubbies to store your items, but learning spaces throughout the building don’t have space. Staff will ask you to take your backpack to your neighborhood if they see you out and about with it. If a backpack is found outside of the learning neighborhoods it will be taken to the office and you can pick it up at the end of the day.
Attendance has been a focus at Gardiner this year. We’re doing a great job getting to school, but we have a lot of room to improve when it comes to getting to class on time. Last week we had more students than ever with lots of tardies. This week, let’s all work on getting to class on time before the bell rings!
This week is Gardiner’s annual College and Career Week! We’ll have a number of activities throughout the week that help us learn more about the options we have after high school!
Here’s today’s Joke of the Day:
What do you call an alligator detective?
-An investi-gator.
Tomorrow we will be on a special schedule. We’ll have a PM Extended Advisory. So each class will be a little bit shorter, and after Period 6 you’ll go to Advisory for the last part of the day. You’ll have time to either work as an Advisory class to create a career display or you’ll prepare for your Passage Presentation if you’re in 8th grade!
March is Women’s History Month. The TVs outside the Community Room and in Timber Hall have slides highlighting a number of incredible women. Take a moment each day to learn about someone new!
Today’s lunch options from the kitchen include:
American Classic - Pancakes or Waffles with Scrambled Eggs, Sausage Patty and Hashbrown Rounds
Turkey & Cheese Sub or Chef Salad
Cheese Burger, Chicken Sandwich, Spicy Chicken Sandwich
Grab & Go’s : Hummus Box, Salads, Sandwiches, Parfaits
Thank you to everyone who is doing a great job of cleaning up after yourself and the people around you in Timber Hall. It’s great when we all chip in to take care of our school!
Gardiner Hawks are creative, collaborative, and perseverant! Make it a GREAT DAY!
