Good Morning Gardiner Hawks! These are your announcements for Tuesday, January 9th
Do you enjoy cities and thinking about how they’re built? A career as an urban planner might be right for you! Urban planners help communities decide how best to use their land and resources with an eye toward future growth and revitalization.
Urban planners, also called city planners, recommend locations for roads, schools, and other infrastructure in order to help local officials solve social, economic, and environmental problems. They conduct inspections, work with other local governments, and create and read maps and diagrams.
Education needed to be an urban planner includes a degree in geography, political science, environmental design, or economics. Urban planners can earn anywhere from $22 an hour to $55 an hour.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects there cities will need many more urban planners in the next decade.
