Good Morning Gardiner Hawks! These are your announcements for Tuesday, April 30th

Mr. Myers' 1st and 2nd periods report to the community room. Do not go to class, go directly to the community room. Mr. Myers' 1st and 2nd periods

Do you enjoy working with food and preparing meals for yourself or others? Do you like working in a fast-paced and exciting work environment? A career as a chef might be right for you! Chefs and cooks prepare food in restaurants and other dining establishments. They supervise other food workers, manage the kitchen, and oftentimes oversee an entire restaurant. Head chefs may focus on more creative work, such as creating menus and dishes and helping to plan presentations for special events. In addition to creating meals, chefs and cooks also need to be aware of food safety regulations and make sure the kitchen follows rules about how food is prepared and stored.

Chefs’ responsibilities  include:

  • Managing kitchen staff

  • Creating recipes

  • Creating menus

  • Planning event menus

  • Following food and kitchen regulations

  • Maintaining a budget

Education to become a chef includes culinary training at a trade school.

Chefs and cooks earn an average salary of $50,000 a year. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that job opportunities for chefs are expected to grow at a rate of 10%  due to consumer demand for healthier dishes and an increase in the number of people dining out, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Today we have our last home Track & Field meet!   This is a great opportunity to show your school spirit and to cheer on your friends!

Students, please remember that the same expectations apply at school events as during the school day.  The only thing that changes is that you can use your phone at the end of the school day.  If you choose to attend the Track & Field meet as a spectator, you must still be respectful, responsible, safe, and kind, just like you would during school hours.  Students still need to follow directions from adults and respond to requests appropriately.  Inappropriate behavior at a school event can result in a referral.  Let’s show all those other schools how great Gardiner Hawks can be!

Remember that we have begun tracking criteria to participate in the end of the year celebration activities for each grade level.  The end of year celebrations are a really cool day to get off campus, celebrate what we’ve done this year, and have some fun!  We want to make sure you finish the year strong by being respectful, responsible, safe and kind!  Starting today, through the celebration day we want to to encourage to ask yourself about your choices:

Is it respectful?

Is it responsible?

Is it safe?

Is it kind?

Talent Show sign ups are in the Welcome Center so come down and sign up now!!

There are still some yearbooks available for pre-sale.  Come in now to order yours today!!

Joke of the Day:

If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring?

Pilgrims!

Today’s lunch options from the kitchen include:

  • Teriyaki Meatball Sub with Asian Veggies

  • Pizza with Salad - Cheese, Pepperoni, Sausage

  • Cheesy Bread with Salad

  • Grab & Go’s : Hummus Box, Salads, Sandwiches, Parfaits
