Good Morning Gardiner Hawks! These are your announcements for Thursday, April 11th

The Brain Break group meets in the main office during 2nd lunch today so grab your lunch and come on down!
Friday, April 12th is the annual Day of Silence hosted by Glsen to raise awareness about the effects of bullying and harassment of LGBT+ people. This day represents the silencing of LGBT+ youth and adults. Members of the LGBT+ community have been harassed for their differences for years. They have been unable to be themselves and share who they are.
The Day of Silence is a yearly vow that any student can make! You can be silent the entire day, representing what LGBT+ people have had to do for so long or take action in other ways like practicing kindness, interrupting bullying and supporting LGBT+ students. Did you know that 82% of LGBT+ students experience harassment at school, and 30% of LGBT+ have missed school because of it? You have an option to spread awareness by participating in the Day of Silence. Day of Silence pins are being handed out next to the student store.
Students, remember our school expectation is that electronics are off and away right when you enter the building, unless a staff member invites you to take them out. This includes any personal devices like cell phones or air pods and also includes using your district-assigned Chromebook. Beginning this week, there will be no reminders when electronics are used in the hallways, during passing times, during lunch/recess. Staff members will ask you to turn your items into the Welcome Center.
In classes, teachers will continue to use Personal Electronics Cards. Personal Electronics Cards include reminders with leveled consequences. A completed Personal Electronics Card is one disqualifier for end of the year celebrations.
The Gardiner PTSO Flower Basket Fundraiser is in full swing! Flower Baskets can be ordered using the online form, then drop off the payment in a sealed, labeled envelope to the front office. This is the last fundraiser of the year and will go towards end of year field day, reward trip celebrations and more! The sale ends in just 2 weeks, so get your orders in!
Just a few more days to pre-purchase yearbooks. If there are any extra yearbooks at the end of the year they will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. As always, yearbooks can be purchased in the Welcome Center before school, at both lunches and after school. Yearbooks can also be purchased online by going to the Gardiner website and clicking on the Online Payment tab under Family Hub!
