Good Morning Gardiner Hawks! These are your announcements for Tuesday, February 27th

Mrs. Blythe's No Place for Hate will meet on Thursday during lunch in her classroom.

Our See’s Candy Fundraiser is happening now until next Friday! The money raised from this event goes to making our dances awesome.  Send friends and family the link or gather orders in person. All orders need to be turned in by Friday, March 1 to the office! The top sellers get Dutch Bro gift cards and top selling advisory class receives a partayyyyy!

Are you interested in medicine and helping others? Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment?  Then a career as a paramedic might be right for you! Anyone who suddenly becomes ill or is injured must receive medical treatment immediately. Emergency medical technicians, or EMTs,  are trained to provide on-site emergency care. They assess the patient's injuries or illness, provide emergency treatment, and transport the patient to a medical facility for further treatment.

It's important for EMTs to be comfortable with multi-tasking. During a call for help, EMTs must communicate with dispatchers over a two-way radio, while navigating to incidents. After responding to and handling an incident, they must be able to complete Patient Care Transport reports. Additionally, they must always be up to date with all emergency and pre-hospital medical care.

A paramedic’s responsibilities include:

  • Checking that the ambulance is working and has all the needed equipment at the start of a shift.

  • Evaluating the cause and seriousness of the illness or injury.

  • Establishing patient care priorities.

  • Providing medical care and transportation for patients.

To be a paramedic or EMT, you need a high school diploma. Then there are three levels of training: EMT basic, EMT intermediate, and paramedic. Paramedic involves the most education,  often an associate’s degree. The coursework to be a paramedic includes anatomy, physiology, and advanced medical skills. The average salary for a paramedic is between $35,000 and $60,000 a year, and the job outlook is better than many other jobs.

Come to the student store after school today for yummy treats and school supplies!  All are reasonably priced.
